The Pendant

They Killed her -
because she wore a pendant
that they hated.

When her corpse dried ,
and the stench overwhelmed
all the curse
her tiny life carried ;

they debated -
whether to shift the shit elsewhere.

They hated her for the pendant she wore-
they tore it away-
while making love with the flesh
whose owner they hated.

They sold the pendant. Weighed it first.
The metal was mighty -
and the money they got
was put to use
selfless use.
Two more bells at their place of worship.

They sought blessings from god -
and a sort of permit
to convert all such pendants
to bells-
to convert all curses
to pious furniture.

To seek more blessings
they hated her pendant.
They hated her for the pendant she wore
they had nothing against her flesh-
they made love with it,
to prove the point.

They hated her-
because she didn't moan,
she bit her lips-
and clenched the pendant instead.

The pendant that they hated.

As her body dried
and the stench got denser
bells rang loud
and they passed the scene
with blessings and handkerchiefs.
There was no more Pendant
left on her to hate,
There was no more flesh
left on her to love.

Here I rest my case.
